Kids ... huh?

Alice, bright and cheerful.... and so full of energy from sleeping so well (and excited at the prospects of starting school today)

..... got up a little earlier than usual and met Katie in the kitchen - helping herself to the last slice of birthday cake.

Which didn't go down too well with Alice AT ALL. She threw Katie a dirty glare, especially when she found the slice of bread and jam on the table for her.

That's MY birthday cake you're eating there..... WHY do I have to eat this bread and jam?

Because there's nothing left my dear, and that wholemeal bread is so much better for you than all this sugary confection.

It's just so NOT fair!

Oh I know my dear.... now just eat up, the bus will be along shortly. You don't want to be late for your first day at school now, do you?

Oh, okay nanny.

I'd like you to call me Katie if that is okay?

Can I?

Of course you can. Now, you've just reminded me. I need to pick up those red running shoes your dad ordered for you.

Not only that, Joshua was up bright and early too and more than a little ticked off with himself. (more on that in later chapters)

So poor Katie had to contend with those two whilst Gareth and Rhonda slept soundly from their night shift jobs. (you can't possibly expect thieves and unsavoury characters to work through the day now.... can you?)

So, Alice went to school.

Whilst Katie cleaned throughout the house, Rhonda had other things on her mind and couldn't sleep properly.

That darned dishwasher was still bugging her. So, whilst Joshua sat quietly watching her, she got to work, trying to fix it.

At least she managed to make it less noisy this time. (and she didn't go up in a flash)

But ... because it took a little too long to fix, poor Joshua couldn't hold on any longer, and ended up with a stinky diaper.

Even AFTER being put on the potty. Much to his dismay....

.... and to Rhonda's disgust.... well, BOTH their disgusts actually.

With noses wrinkled, Rhonda managed to change poor Joshua's diaper (complaining all the time too)

She was VERY vocal about the smell, despite the fact that poor Joshua was most uncomfortable indeed, and in distress over it too.

By the time Alice came home from school, Gareth was already awake.
So he helped her with her homework.

What a great dad he is...

Rhonda needed a quick workout to burn off the calories from the birthday cake, so she decided to put the radio on and do her stretches.

Just before she went to work however, she had to pop in to see Joshua and give him a kiss goodnight.

Hard to believe... isn't it?

That feisty little.... bad tempered wee bugger.... looking so sweet and innocent there. Looking imploringly up at his mama, wanting kisses and stuff.

Yeah. O-kay.

Just before bedtime (and as a reward for doing her homework on time AND for helping to clean up the dirty dishes),

Rhonda and Gareth purchased an easel for Alice. So she took it upon herself to do a little 'dabbling'.

(more on her creative pictures later)
