Gareth has been holding out on us.
For the past couple of weeks, he's been getting phone calls, daily, just when he's running a bath, getting into the bath, halfway through a bath, or just getting out. Even when he's been trying to get a few lie-ins, thanks to long hours he puts in at work.
And does he complain?
Nope.
I wonder why that is????
It's no good asking him either. The days when you want him to talk.... he clams up tighter than ... well ... a clam.
But then, one day.. all was revealed, as he picked up the phone and dialled a number. A FEMALE voice answered, soft and gentle. And he invited her around to his house for pizza.
Yep, he's getting to a point now, that he's too lazy to cook. But never mind, at least he's getting some company anyway.
And the identity of this 'mystery Sim'?
None other than his work colleague... Rhonda Bagley!!!!!
They've been best buddies for AGES... apparently. And up until now, their relationship has been 'platonic' (or so Gareth says).
But something has changed.
After driving me insane from his constant singing in the bath.... Gareth decided to sing to Rhonda. At least he can drive someone else batty with his crooning!!!
He chose a song about 'going steady' - no less!!!
And she was completely enthralled.
She'd never had this kind of attention before and sucked it up... a LOT.
So much so that there was a glassy look in her eyes as she gazed longingly at Gareth as he crooned and warbled.
Oh. My.
Who would have thunk huh? A romance that begins in the workplace????
Well, one thing led to another, and he started flirting with her... gently to begin with, just to test the waters. After all, he'd been down this road before and had the rejection slips to prove it.
But Rhonda proved VERY receptive. It appears, she'd been holding a candle for him for a while now, and didn't want to make the first move, just in case he rejected her..
... aww, how sweet...
But then.... out came the 'cheesy' one-liners...
I hope he's improved somewhat from the last attempt.
You are like a delicate flower... a beautiful red rose.
Awww. At least it's an improvement from the past few attempts.
Sadly, this romance had to be aborted very quickly, as Gareth needed to get to work. Spinning into his clothes, you couldn't help but notice the look of infatuation in Rhonda's eyes as he hurriedly said goodbye.
They held hands briefly, making promises to call each other.
The look on their faces said enough. They were loathe to part from one another, bitter regret in their eyes.
As he bounded into the car, a sappy grin on his face (no pics, sorry), Rhonda made herself at home, sitting on the well worn settee, playing video games.
In fact, she looked right at home, sitting there, as if she truly belonged.
Is this going to be a one-off, or will this develop into something more permanent?
We can only hope.

ReplyDeleteI'll be looking forward so he can have something solid with her!
